JERRY THOMAS' BARTENDER'S GUIDE
OR HOW TO MIX DRINKS


Slings Tom & Jerry

Hot Whiskey Sling.
(Use medium bar glass, hot.)
Take 1 small tea-spoonful of powdered sugar.
1 wine-glass of Bourbon or rye whiskey.

Dissolve the sugar in a little hot water, add the whiskey, and fill the glass two-thirds full of boiling water. Grate a little nutmeg on top, and serve.

Hot Spiced Rum.
(Use medium bar-glass, hot.)
Take 1 small tea-spoonful of powdered white sugar.
1 wine-glass of Jamaica rum.
1 tea-spoonful of spices, (allspice and cloves not ground).
1 piece of sweet butter, as large as half a chestnut.

Dissolve the sugar in a little boiling water, add the rum, spices and butter, and fill the glass two-thirds full of boiling water.

Hot Rum.
(Use medium bar-glass, hot.)
Take 1 small tea-spoonful of powdered sugar.
1 wine-glass Jamaica rum.

rum and butter, fill the glass two-thirds full of boiling
water, stir, grate a little nutmeg on top, and serve.
